From foundation to finish, we equip Nome's builders, contractors, and homeowners with the materials and expertise that Arctic conditions demand — and desert supply houses can't match.
From rough framing to fine finish work, we stock the materials that stand up to Alaska's demanding environment — sourced, cut, and ready when you are.
Spruce, pine, and engineered options — graded and ready for framing, roofing, and structural work in cold-climate construction.
Insulation, house wrap, roofing, siding, and concrete — the complete package for envelopes that hold heat and keep Alaska out.
Plywood, OSB, tongue-and-groove, and custom cuts for projects that demand more than standard stock — we'll help you find it.
Nails, screws, anchors, hinges, and everything in between — the small things that keep big structures together.
Hand tools, safety gear, and consumables for the job site — from the first measurement to the final detail.
Can't find what you need? We'll source it. Tell us your specs and let us track it down for you.
Nome isn't a place where you wing it. The weather doesn't wait, the supply runs are long, and the people who build here need materials they can count on — every single time. That's exactly what Grizzly Building Supply & Lumber Yard provides.
We're not a big-box warehouse with a parking lot the size of a football field. We're your neighbors. We know what works in this climate, we know your project timelines, and we know that a wrong cut or a delayed order isn't just an inconvenience — it's a problem.
Materials selected for Alaska's unique demands — insulation values, freeze-thaw resilience, and structural integrity.
Our team understands building in the North and will help you choose the right materials for your specific project.
Lumber, hardware, tools, and building supplies — everything you need without driving across town.
Building in Nome means dealing with logistics most builders never imagine. We make it simpler.
Not sure which grade of lumber or type of insulation your project needs? We'll walk you through the options so you buy the right thing the first time.
Need lumber cut to specific lengths? We'll size it precisely so it fits your plans — saving you time and extra trips to the site.
Running a full build or a major renovation? We'll pull your materials together, stage them, and keep you supplied through completion.
Can't find a specific material locally? We'll order it for you — whether it's a specialty fixture, a particular grade of wood, or hard-to-source hardware.
Whether you're framing a deck or pouring a commercial foundation, we supply projects of every scale with the same attention to quality.
Our staff has real building experience. Bring us your questions, your plans, or even your doubts — we'll help you make the right call.
